Quaternary Sequence Grid-based Hydrostratigraphic 3d Modelling by the Relative Method, Chteauguay River Watershed, Quebec

چکیده
A grid-oriented technique has been developed in order to build a 3D hydrostratigraphic model of the Quaternary sediments overlying a regional fractured rock aquifer, in the area of Châteauguay located south of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is part of the St-Lawrence Lowlands, a topographical lowland underlied by Paleozoic sedimentary rocks. It is based on the integration of the surficial sediments map and borehole logs with the use of GIS and grid-calculator software (such as Mapinfo and Vertical Mapper). The applied methodology focused on the estimation of the thickness of the stratigraphic units rather than of the elevation of the contacts. First, a regular grid was generated over the study area with 30x30 m cells. The bulk thickness of the Quaternary sequence for each grid cell was computed as the difference between the terrain digital elevation model and the rock surface krigged over more than 5000 drillers’ logs available. A new computation method for the estimation of the discrete thicknesses is presented: the relative method in which the thickness is computed as a fraction of the bulk thickness. A more detailed perspective on this new 3D modelling technique is presented will be presented in Tremblay et al. (in prep.).

Sensitivity Analysis of Meteorological Parameters in Runoff Modelling Using SWAT (Case Study: Kasillian Watershed)
Determination of river runoff is essential in design and construction of most hydraulic structures including dams. In rivers with no measurement stations, the hydraulic models can be used for data estimation. SWAT is one of the most widely-used numerical models. In this model, input influential meteorological data as precipitation, temperature, wind speed, solar radiation and relative humidity...

In this paper, the modeling is based on division of the catchment into a grid mesh. Each cell has a unique response function independent of the functioning of other cells Summation of the flow responses from the cells, result the flow hydrograph from this area basin.A method is presented to simulation the flow hydrograph within a river basin using the hydrological model WetSpa. WetSpa is a GIS-b...
متن کاملAFFDEF: A spatially distributed grid based rainfall-runoff model for continuous time simulations of river discharge
This paper aims to present a rainfall-runoff model that was recently released into the public domain via the World Wide Web. The model, AFFDEF, is spatially distributed (grid based) and performs continuous time simulations of river flows at any time step and at any location in the catchment. It does not, however, account for snowmelt. Conceptual and physically based schemes are employed for sim...
متن کاملParameterization using ArcView GIS in medium and large watershed modelling
This paper describes the development of a comprehensive subcatchment parameterization method for medium and large-scale watershed modelling based upon the fully distributed WetSpa model. A simplified approach is used in order to take advantage of the existing spatial analysis function within ArcView GIS and its Spatial Analyst and hydrological modelling extensions. The model combines elevation,...
متن کاملSurvey of the Balance of Equilibrium Erosion in the Hajiabad River Watershed (Hormozgan Province) using the Entropy Model
Erosion is a surface-leveling phenomenon where thetransportof sediments from being washed off the land or by the force of gravity move from elevated areas. During different periods, in Iran, constantly flowing water has been affected by erosion. Thus it is important to address the erosionproblem. This research attempts to assess and identify the parameters affecting erosion in Haji Abad Wa...
